In today’s world, we are sometimes so busy that we feel the need to bring ourselves to the attention of others. Being seen and heard gives us the feeling that we are not alone. Because of this, we sometimes tend to focus more on showing what we do rather than truly focusing on what we do for our own personal growth or goals. In this blog, I want to reflect on the power of solitude and how it can contribute to rest, creativity, reflection, and personal growth.
contribute to rest, creativity, reflection, and personal growth.
I tried to partially retreat into solitude for a while to discover where I want to grow. It felt like a form of reflection directed toward my own conscience. That experience felt quite heavy and exhausting. The constant stimuli from society, and by that I mean social media, work, hobbies, and maintaining social connections, all create a certain pressure about how we are sometimes expected to live and what the standard of living should be. Sometimes you don’t even realize how much those social expectations influence you. I was able to see this more clearly when I partially withdrew and truly kept the external stimuli at a distance.

At the beginning, I struggled with it because my mind was so busy from all the stimuli around me. The partial solitude did bring a certain sense of satisfaction, but not enough to find true inner peace. That’s why it’s time for me to take solitude seriously: absorbing fewer external stimuli and creating more stimulation from within myself.
to ensure that my personal drive is stronger
The reason is not that I feel weak toward certain opinions about standards of living or the constant pressure of society. The reason is that I do not want to let others determine how I should live. Sometimes that means I need to take distance in order to stimulate my thinking again, to ensure that my personal drive is stronger than the pressure society places on me. In that way, society cannot place pressure on me except the pressure I place on myself: pressure for my own personal growth, not for a standard of living created by society, no matter where in the world I may be.
If you’re wondering: by isolating yourself, won’t you feel lonely? What I was once afraid of is now something I’m trying to embrace. Starting the day in complete calm means beginning without external stimulation. No social media, no phone, just waking up in peace. I want to end my day the same way.

Starting the morning without distractions
In my previous blog, I wrote about loneliness, discipline, and time. These are the things I believe can bring out the best in ourselves. Starting the morning without distractions, with only a sense of peace in your mind, is a good way to begin the day.
That is the first step. After that, I want to try to minimize my use of social media by setting timers for myself so I don’t constantly get carried away.
Starting solitude does not mean distancing yourself from everything, quitting your social life, or becoming lonely. It’s about gaining control over your own life. It's about peace in your mind between all the madness within the world.
