Detective Pikachu is a special expansion of the Sun & Moon Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It was released in anticipation of the live-action Pokémon movie, POKÉMON Detective Pikachu. It featured Pokémon that appeared in the movie and were made as 3D art by the visual effects studios that worked on the film, the Moving Picture Company and Framestore. Unlike regular expansions, Detective Pikachu booster packs could not be purchased individually from booster boxes. Instead, they were only made available in various set-related merchandise, the first of which was released on March 29, 2019. Each booster pack contained four Holofoil cards. The Japanese equivalent Movie Special Pack Great Detective Pikachu is a 25 card promotional set that was released on April 26, 2019. Each booster pack contained 3 Common cards and an Uncommon card or above. Each booster box contained 20 packs and guaranteed to form a complete set[1]. All Common and Uncommon cards included within the Japanese release are Mirror Holofoil.
